Strategic plenary: What is the business case for R&D?
Research and development built the foundation of a steady growth of the utilization of natural gas. Many examples can be found along the entire value chain. But will this trend go on? Will the latest concepts on gas production (shale gas as well as biogas or power-to-gas), on smart gas grids, and on fuel cells or mobility based on NG, CNG or LNG turn into sustainable solutions? In which areas can customers' acceptance and market growth be expected and where is industry willing to finance the development phase? This plenary offers a platform for this discussion and provides answers from the perspectives of industry and university. Highly knowledgeable and experienced international energy experts will sit on the panel:
- Gerald Linke, Senior VP, E.ON, GERMANY (moderator)
- Etienne Romsom, Strategy Director, DNV GL Oil & Gas, NORWAY
- Brad Douville, Vice-President, Westport, USA
- Robert Schlögl, Professor, Max-Planck Institute, GERMANY
